12 Contestants make it to Big Brother Nigeria aka Big Brother Naija 2017 See Gobbe #BBNaija, which kicked off on Sunday 22nd January, 2017, with ex-housemate Ebuka Uchendu as the host.

The show has not been aired  since 2006, but returned with 12 brand new housemates, selected  from various part of the country.

K9Flavour and Yemi Alade entertained viewers with their classic songs. K9 opened the show, while Flavour performed the ever catchy “Ashawo,” Yemi Alade performed her hit track, Johnny.

Alade struggled to impress with her first performance but won the crowd with her second outing (Johnny). However, Flavour had the attention and excitement of the audience with both outings, rolling his waist and showing off his abs.

Here are the 12 housemates:

URIEL was the first to be announced to the Big Brother Naija house. She was born in Hammersmith, England, but an indigene of Lagos State. Uriel who says she is spontaneous, passionate with a nurturing nature too, and loves to cook, but hates cleaning up after cooking. She was a contestant on Top Actor Africa 2016, and was the first Nigerian to be evicted from the show.

KEMEN was the second housemate to be introduced. A ship manger turned fitness entrepreneur. The 27-year-old fitness trainer hails from Akwa Ibom, the housemate introduced himself as ‘beautiful at heart.’, and says he is going to “invest and empower” if he wins the 25Million Naira!.

COCOICE was the third in the house. A rapper,  showed off her rapping skills to the host and Africa on stage, she has a very good relationship with her brother especially since their mother passed in 2001.Cocoice also revealed that she is single, having endured a few unlucky romantic relationships, and is not out to date any of the housemates, but, “you can’t say no to love,” she added.

BARRY was the next fourth to be introduced. He works as a Statistician but has plans to start his own digitial content creation company.The contestant who is from Rivers State, but lives in Lagos, Nigeria, says he doesn’t like stagnancy and enjoys rebelling and challenging himself.

MARVIS, was the next. A Mass Communication graduate from Madonna University. She is the 11th of 22 children, and a royalty of her tribe Onne from Eleme. Marvis insinuated that living with 12 housemates would be an easy task as she is ‘used to living with lots of people. She’s single and her last relationship ended because she couldn’t handle the long distance and they quarreled a lot.

THINTALLTONY’S acclaimed choreographer, performed at the opening of BBNaija’s first edition  in 2006, and has since expanded into acting, writing and poetry. He’s a self-confessed team player who believes in winning for all and celebrating good times

GIFTY, an actress, model is counting on self-love, faith & positivity to win #BBNaija. The model who described herself as ‘great and amazing. Schooled in Accra, Gifty returned to Lagos to make her dreams happen. She has acted and been featured in a few Nollywood monster hits with Van Vicker as her favourite actor. She says her mother is her inspiration and has taught her to handle people.

SOMADINA popularly called Soma was introduced. A graphic artist, producer, model and singer, a pastor. Soma has opened for several high-profile acts. He was inspired by his mom who also encouraged him to pursue a career in Music, he decided to defer his studies and focus on Science when he resumes since he loves gadgets. He’s in a long-distance relationship.

BISOLA Singer, actress and OAP was a contestant on the 2008 MTN Project Fame West Africa. The entertainer who is popular for her role on“Skinny Girl in Transit” and “The Life of a Nigerian Couple.  Bisola says she was a spoilt child till age 8 when her then well-off family hit some major hurdles. She is a mother of one – a 7 year old daughter who told her to go and come back with the N25million cash prize.

MIMIYONSE  was the 10th housemate to be introduced.  24-year-old Lagos State indigene, Mimiyonse will be ‘showing off his skills,’ and hopefully, it gets him a spot in the house for weeks. He’s been in a relationship with his girlfriend. He hates being taken for granted. This last born also a chef, for two months now took to cooking by chance after his mother made sure that he spent time with her in the kitchen.

TOKUNBO also known as TBoss  from Edo state,was the next housemate to find her way into the house. She has 8 tattoos and over 7 piercings. The 22-year-old contestant is popularly called the ‘The Pin Cushion’ by her friends. Her dad was very strict and tough on her and her siblings but her mom was always soft spoken and sweet. She studied at the University of Lagos for nine months before going to Romania to complete her studies. She’s an occasional drinker.

EFE was the 12th housemate to be announced. An indigene of Delta State, who represents Jos where he was born and brought up,  moved to Lagos because it is “where it all happens’’ and worked his way up to earn recognition.
A graduate in Economics, he enjoys cooking and is confident his easy-flowing attitude will help him win over Housemates’ plots.

The show is being shot in South Africa.
