Nigerian Olympians – Blessing Okagbare, Ejowvokoghene Oduduru and Efe Ajagba – have lost out in their respective competitions at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

Okagbare dropped out of contention in the women’s 200m after clocking 22.69secs to finish fifth in Heat 1 of the semi-finals.

Her last hope of winning a medal is the women’s 4x100m relay scheduled for Thursday, August 18.

Boxer Efe Ajagba is also out after suffering a quarterfinal knockout by Ivan Dychko in the Men’s super-heavy over 91 kg category, with the Kazakhstan boxer now up against Great Britain’s Joe Joyce for a place in the gold medal bout.

Ejowvokoghene Oduduru who finished second in Heat 9 behind Jamaica’s Usain Bolt in a time of 20.34 seconds  to reach semi-final – tried but couldn’t ‘die on the line’ this time to qualify for the men’s 200m final.

The viral internet sensation finished in seventh place with a time of 20.59 seconds in the second semi-final.
