76, 93 days, Top AMVCA Nominations (Full Nominee List)

One of the most anticipated films in year 2016, 76 topped the list of nominees for the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA 2017) with 14 nominations. The historical movie was followed closely by ebola story, 93 days, with 12 nominations while Ayo Makun’s A trip to Jamaica came in third with five nominations.

The announcement was made on Wednesday in a live broadcast on all Africa Magic channels on DSTV by the duo of Nigerian actress and TV presenter, Mitchelle Dede, and Kenyan actor, radio presenter and TV host Fareed Khimani.

76, produced by Izu Ojukwu, is a story about of a young pregnant woman, and her husband, a soldier accused of being involved in the 1976 military coup and assassination of General Murtala Mohammed, the Head-of-State of Nigeria. 93 days, directed by Steve Gukas chronicled what happened during the period ebola virus disease entered Nigeria’s megacity, Lagos and the race to prevent it from spreading to the over 21 million people in the city and beyond. A trip to Jamaica was directed by Robert O. Peters and produced by comedian Ayo Makun.
